Working out of her Hamilton studio (former one car garage), Carolyn Kerr designs and creates porcelain dinnerware: bowls, plates and platters, as well as buttons, tiles, pendants and some other stuff. Carolyn believes that meal times should be happy times and to that end, surrounded by little Tupperware containers filled with various color amalgamations and four rolling pins, she investigates unusual color combinations and spawns new designs. She is particularly fond of 1950s and 60s design, probably the result of having spent a happy babyhood and childhood in those very decades. Largely self-taught in the art of ceramics and design, Carolyn's BA in philosophy explains her proclivity to ponder ontological mysteries while scraping colored clay out of her fingernails. Her MA in English comes in handy when it comes to writing these bios. All pieces are clear glazed and fired to cone 5 (about 2150 degrees F) and fully functional.
